About Department

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was founded in 2013. Since its inception, the department has constantly focused in developing the academic excellence of the students. The curriculum of this branch is designed keeping the most recent trends in technology to keep pace with the national standards. The Department of Mechanical Engineering plays a unique and distinctive role in an institute where the ethics of technology and its applications prevail. As we know, engineering, by its very nature, humanistic and socially derived enterprise. Mechanical Engineering department has 60 intake capacities.

VISION

Mechanical Engineering department of Government Polytechnic, Nabarangpur strives to impart good technical education and to produce skilled man power for the betterment of society.

MISSION

  • Develop state of art facilities related to Mechanical Engineering
  • Cater highly qualified faculties to meet the needs of the department
  • Focus on practical experiments for solving industrial and societal problems

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

  • To acquire basic knowledge in Mechanical Engineering with hands on practice in all the areas of Mechanical Engineering as well as Workshop Practice.
  • To accomplish with advanced training in focused areas to solve complex real-world problems in Mechanical Engineering.
  • To demonstrate professional and ethical attitude, soft skills, team spirit, leadership skills and execute assignments to the perfection.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs)

Programme outcomes (POS) of Diploma in Engineering

P01: Basic and discipline specific knowledge:

Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems.

P02: Problem Analysis:

Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.

P03: Design/development of solutions:

Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.

PO4: Engineering tools, experimentation and testing:

Apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.

PO5: Engineering practices for society, sustainability and environment:

Apply appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.

P06: Project management:

Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.

P07:Life-long learning:

Ability to analyse individual needs and engage in updating in th context of technological changes.
 

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)

PSO1:

Academic Competence: (i) Understand various concepts of Mechanical Engineering appropriately. (ii) Recommend practical solutions to solve the problems in different domains.

PSO2:

Personal and Professional Competence: (i) Apply the fundamental knowledge to acquire new skills. (ii) Develop strong problem solving, analysing and decision-making abilities. Identify the information and apply their disciplinary knowledge and professional skills to design components, system or processes to meet required specification 

PSO3:

Research Competence: (i) Apply tools and techniques to demonstrate appropriate scientific skills to seek solutions to problems. (ii) Integrate Technical  and Scientific knowledge to explore different domains’ data. 

 PSO4:

Entrepreneurial and Social Competence: (i) Use the knowledge and skills necessary to support their career in overall development. (ii) Develop solutions for required for social interaction.
